The Tome Ep 125: Third Party EXTRAVAGANZA
This episode is a collection of mini-reviews of a slew of 3rd party products (products usable for D&D but not by Wizards of the Coast). Chris Heard from Icosohedraphelia gives us reviews of the Chessex Dice Boot, Sonic Legends Soundscapes, and Paizo GameMastery Flip-Pad Mats, Jeremiah McCoy from the Basics of the Game gives us a look at Tieflings from Goodman Games, Marcelo Dior from Voices of the Third Earth (a Portuegese language show) talks about iPlay4e, and Donny (from my gaming group) brings you a look at In Search of Adventure from Goodman Games. Oh, and I also did some reviewing. Goodman Games products I reviewed includes Scions of Punjar and The Forgotten Portal and I also looked at Q-Workshop Steampunk dice, Fat Dragon Games' Ultimate GM Screen II, DM Tracker, and Precis Intermedia's Disposable Heroes - Fantasy 6 paper miniatures.

Thanks for the review of iplay4e.com! We’re actually releasing a major update later today that adds a bunch of new features - and gets rid of the one “nuisance” that Marcelo described.
Cheers, Andrew Reutter http://iplay4e.com
So, where was the review of Masterplan? Seriously, how can you review 3rd-party D&D tools without mentioning it? For shame guys.
@Jon I’m personally a Mac, so my familiarity with Masterplan is limited at best.
For all the other reviews I put out a call to regular contributors and asked people to send in any 3rd party review they wanted to do in about 5 minutes. Everything I got, I included in the episode.
Although, for what it’s worth, I have heard good things about Masterplan. Maybe I should find someone to do a review of it, perhaps with an interview.
That would be a show I’d listen to.
Thank you so much for including a review of our soundscapes in your podcast! I love listening to the reviews on your show and I couldn’t be more thrilled that you chose to mention our products.
Just one thing - the link you posted above is wrong, and takes you to an error page. The correct url for our website is http://www.sonic-legends.com
Thanks again! Erika
Ahhh…one too many “http://”s. Silly link mistake, all better now.
And I’m glad you liked the episode.
OMG, call it major update on iplay4e! It blew my mind away — and my players’!
Much ignored in 4E, 3rd party products are bothe interesting and good many times. I have my share. Glad to see you are paying them some attention! THANKS
Listened to the reviews today, interesting. Was good to see Goodman Games getting such a solid showing as I think the stuff they do is a probably the most solid third party stuff out there for 4E. And you made the Ulitimate DM Screen, I’ve wistfully looked at it a few times.
@Benensky I’m glad you enjoyed it. I like doing things like this now and then (although it’s a lot of work I don’t want to do it monthly).
It’s hard to talk much about 3rd party products in a regular episode because I really like bringing others in on the episodes, and the chances that we’ve all picked up the same 3rd party books is slim.
@ Norsk Drake I have pics of the GM Screen. I have them up on Facebook but I don’t know if I’ve put them anywhere else, I’ll have to see if there’s a good place to put them.
