In this episode I got a preview copy of the novel, Elminster Must Die! releasing in hard cover on August 3rd, 2010. I not only review the first Elminster novel set in the 4e version of the Forgotten Realms, but I spend most of this episode talking to Ed Greenwood, author of the book and creator of the Realms, about this book and other Realmsian things.
This is the episode that got crashed. First, Mike Shea crashes Matt James, Quinn Murphy, and myself reviewing the Demonomicon. Then Matt James crashes the interview I was conducting with his brother, and author of Demonomicon, Brian R. James. Meanwhile, there is also crashing from the audience as we introduce the Tome voicemail line (919-BIZ-TOME).
Robert J. Schwalb joins me for this episode where we discuss crafting stories for an evil party of characters and even build one encounter for them. We then discuss how to play an evil PC and not ruin everyone the fun for others. All that plus segments from Mike Shea of Sly Flourish for Evil DM Tips and Tracy Hurley from Sarah Darkmagic who talks about when a player wants to change the tone of a game.
Monster Manual 3 is easily the best Monster Manual yet. In this episode Quinn Murphy, Mike Shea, and host Jeff Greiner share their thoughts about the book and give an example of how it has inspired them to create something. They also extensively discuss recent D&D news.
